2026-9|9 Native South Exhibit-Lake City SC

At Jones-Carter Gallery, visitors can experience 9|9: Art of the Native South, an exhibition featuring works from the Museum of the Southeast American Indian at UNC Pembroke. The exhibition includes a wide range of media and artists from tribal nations including the Lumbee, Catawba, Haliwa-Saponi, Eastern Band of Cherokee, Muscogee Creek, and Nansemond.

2026- Contemporary Lumbee Art

This special exhibition is in honor and celebration of the Lumbee people becoming the 575th federally recognized Tribe. Our featured artists include Karina McMillan, Christopher Kennedy, James D Malcolm, Jesalyn Keziah, and Ariana Chavis.

This showcase will be on view alongside our Featured Artists Exhibit from August 18 through September 26.

The Native South refers to the homelands of Indigenous peoples across the southeastern United States. The Nine-Nine (9|9) Native South Exhibition celebrates the creativity and cultural expression of Native artists from this region.

Through this exhibition, the Museum of the Southeast American Indian encourages visitors to engage deeply with each work of art and to experience the richness, complexity and vitality of Native creativity in the South.
